Tips for a Beach Day with Kids.

Going to the beach with kids does not have to be a sandy hassle! Here are 8 tips for your next family beach day!

1. Beach tent

Beach tents are affordable and practical to carry to and from the beach. They are my absolute favorite way to go to the beach with my kids. This tent provides you with shade and a place to sit off of the sand. Most of these tents will have windows on both sides that can be opened and closed to allow for a breeze. From personal experience I recommend buying a mini broom to keep sand out as well.

2. Baby powder for sand

This may sound like adding more flames to a fire however this tip truly works! Adding a bit of baby powder onto dry skin can help to knock off some of the sand. I recommend doing this at your car to not make a mess on the beaches.

3. Bed sheet and umbrella

Place the sheet over the sand, placing four heavy items in each of the corners to weigh it down. Dig a hole for the umbrella near by. This works great for crawling babies.

4. Refilled water jug for sand

Bring a jug filled with water to rinse sand off of hands and feet. This works great for when the kids need a quick snack on the beach or getting the sand off before driving back home.

5. Neon bathing suits.

This is something I strongly recommend for both beach and pool days. Wearing neon bathing suits ensures that you are able to spot your child easily. Neon bathing suits stand out in the water and sand more easily than other colors.

6. Race track made out of sand.

This works in a couple different ways, and it always helps to be creative with it. Bringing hot wheels and tracing your own racing lanes is one fun way to keep little ones entertained. For older kids you can trace a start and finish line for foot races!

7. Pool noodles

One thing my little ones loved at the beach was pool noodles! I recommend this for 5 years and up but with extra close supervision younger kids can enjoy this as well. With their pool noodle kids can splash in the waves.

8. Beach wagon

If you live in a costal area I highly recommend having a beach wagon. Especially for when you have to pack up all your beach supplies and the kids after a long hot beach day! Be weary of picking a beach access with stairs, I’ve made that mistake once or twice myself.

Bonus tip: Bring extra of everything!

This one is pretty basic but a life saver when you need it. I always pack an extra towel or two, as well as for the kids clothes. Leaving this in your car can be helpful after using the baby power and water jug tip to wash off sand!
It’s important to bring extra clothes for the kids and yourself! There’s nothing more painful than driving home after a beach day with uncomfortable sandy kids!
My last extra tip is to bring extra water bottles! I recommend buying a reusable gallon jug and bring your kids their own individual cups to reuse throughout your beach trip.

These are my best beach tips as a mom living in a costal town. I hope this helped a little bit and thank you so much for reading!
